Residents of Crete are invited to join representatives from the U.S. Embassy Athens on Wednesday, April 3 and Thursday, April 4, 2019, as they provide Consular, Federal Benefits and Immigration services at the Municipal building on 2 Androgeo Str., Iraklio.  Services will include accepting passport applications for persons NOT eligible for mail-in application services, documenting children’s births in Greece to U.S. citizen parent(s), and providing limited notarial services.

Passport and Citizenship Services will be available on Wednesday, April 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Thursday, April 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., ONLY through a pre-arranged appointment.  See below for information on how to schedule your appointment.  

Immigration Services will include accepting petitions for qualified immediate relatives on a walk-in basis, without a prior appointment, on Wednesday, April 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Thursday, April 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

A Federal Benefits representative will answer questions on Wednesday, April 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Thursday, April 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  A prior appointment is not required.     

Passports & Reports of Birth Abroad services - Available by appointment only: 

Passport applicants can expect to receive their completed passports about a month after applying.  Appointments are not available in Crete for applicants who are qualified to use application Form DS-82, as these services are available by mail.  Instructions for mail submissions can be found at https://gr.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/passports/renewing-adult-passport/

• Complete application Form DS-11 prior to your appointment, by following the instructions for the Online Form Filler: https://pptform.state.gov/.  Further instructions on required documents may be obtained at https://gr.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/passports/

• Complete Form DS-2029 and review the required documents to apply for a Consular Report of Birth Abroad prior to your appointment, following the instructions at https://gr.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/passports/first-passport-child-born-outside-u-s/qualify-pass-citizenship/

• Bring copies and originals of previous passports, birth certificates (for children's applications) and Greek ID cards.

• Ensure all foreign-language (non-Greek) documents are translated into English. 

• Note that fees for passport & citizenship, notarials and immigration services may be paid only by a bank check in euros made payable to the American Embassy.   Bank checks may be obtained from the following banks:  National Bank, Bank of Piraeus, Alpha Bank, Attica Bank, Citibank, HSBC and Eurobank.   Personal checks are not accepted.   If you submit more than one application, one bank check may be made out for the total amount.  Please review the current fees for consular services at https://gr.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/passports/fees/
